Talent Q Elements

Typically, companies use Talent Q Elements for different positions at different levels, such as supervisory, graduate,  and professional.

There are three types of Talent Q Elements, and the goal of each is to measure the following abilities of a candidate: 

• Numerical reasoning
• Verbal reasoning
• Logical reasoning

Talent Q Elements Numerical Reasoning

Talent Q Elements Numerical reasoning tests measure your mathematical knowledge and your ability to understand, analyze, and draw conclusions from the provided numerical data. The usual forms of presenting numerical data in this test type are graphs and tables.

Example question:

What is the difference between the average prices of Samsung and Motorola?

A. 155
B. 166
C. 1,200
D. –155

Answer: 

1. Calculate the average price of Samsung – (400 + 450 + 550 + 500)/4 = 475
2. Calculate the average price of Motorola – (340 + 280 + 350 + 310)/4 = 320
3. Calculate the difference – 475 – 320 = 155

The correct answer is 155.

Talent Q Elements Verbal Reasoning

The SHL inductive reasoning test requires the employee to demonstrate a detail-oriented approach. You will be given a series of shapes, figures or images and will be required to find a general rule, logical sequence or identify which image fits in a gap.

Example Question:

As a result of long periods of military hostilities, the borders between countries have been contaminated by landmines and other Explosive Ordnance (EO). During the last 10 years, a total of 744 people have been killed or wounded by EO. The presence of those EO represents a direct threat for communities living in or nearby those contaminated areas and creates obstacles to accessing livelihood resources.

The goal of Talent Q Aspects is to measure skills necessary for such frontline positions, respectively.

Talent Q Aspects Styles

Talent Q Aspects Ability Verbal

Example

Hacking is an attempt to exploit a computer system or a private network inside a computer for illicit purposes. In online games, the most common hack is the Trojan. The major ways of being exposed to Trojans are:

• With deceptive E-mails or announcements in the game, some players are cheated into visiting the phishing website and entering their account information.
• Via game plug-ins. When the player logs in to the game, the Trojan horse program will cheat or intercept the  account and password information of the user.

Anti-cheat software is designed to prevent players of online games from gaining an  unfair advantage by using third-party tools. Top key players in this sphere are Microsoft, Denuvo and Valve Corporation.

In this section, we outline a few useful tips to help you pass the Talent Q tests.

• Practice: Practice is the key to success and we can’t stress this enough. Practising different kinds of questions that you may come across in the actual test plays a significant role in your success. Practising not only improves accuracy but also speeds up the process of solving a question.
• Time is everything: Talent Q tests are designed to be tricky, they include irrelevant information as well as stringent time constraints. You should be careful not to get astray while looking at irrelevant information. Let it be numerical data or written passages, learning how to skim through the information while focusing on the relevant data is extremely important. Take timed assessments in order to track your time. This will give you a fair idea of how much time you are taking for each question and how much more you need to improve.
• Test day preparations: Make sure that you have access to a stable internet connection and a peaceful environment where you can take the test. Ensure that the device, on which you plan to take the test, is fully charged and that you have the charger nearby. Keep a pen and paper with you in case you need to solve a question by hand.
• Practice full-length timed tests: Practice full-length timed assessments in the same environment where you plan to take the actual test. Not only will this allow you to have an accurate estimate of your preparation, but it will also reduce the chances of panicking during the actual exam.
